Product Introduction
The MAX98357 pulse-code modulation (PCM) and MAX98358 pulse-density modulation (PDM) plug-and-play speaker amplifiers take advantage of the flexibility of Maxim's pinout. Compared to typical
analog amplifier solutions, the number of components is greatly reduced, thereby greatly reducing the solution size. Since most
users control the volume digitally upstream, these features allow users to take advantage of Maxim's cost-effective wafer-level packaging (WLP) without expensive PCB VIA. To achieve excellent sound quality, the devices use highly noise-immune digital inputs and have high jitter tolerance (at least 8dB better than competing solutions). The devices also provide excellent electromagnetic interference (EMI) suppression, allowing the use of long cable runs to connect
speakers without adding external filtering. In addition, the devices provide industry-leading Class D efficiency.
